FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I must cancel my participation. What should I do?
If you decide not to participate in Obala Ultra Trail for any reason, you are not entitled to a refund of the entry fee unless you purchased optional insurance at the time of registration.
If you choose to cancel before 20 September 2026, you have two options:
- a) Transfer your registration to another participant – If you wish to transfer your bib to another runner, simply log in to your user account (my dashboard – TRANSFER YOUR BIB TO A FRIEND) and complete the transfer.
For each transfer made between 22 September and 15 October, an administrative transfer fee applies.
Transfers are possible until 15 October 2026. After this date, bib transfers and changes are no longer available. - b) Refund with purchased BETICKETING insurance – If you purchased insurance, the refund process is handled directly with the insurance provider.
Note: The organizer does not issue refunds under any circumstances.
The refund option is available exclusively through the optional BeTicketing Insurance, which must be purchased during registration.
BeTicketing Insurance allows a refund of up to 80% of the paid fee, up to a maximum of €4,000, in the case of:
- Medically certified illnesses (including illness caused by epidemics/pandemics)
- Pregnancy or childbirth up to 7 days before the event
- Public transport strikes, exams, significant property damage, or other unforeseen and documented circumstances
Important:
- Claims must be submitted within 5 working days of the incident and no later than 72 hours after the event
- Required documentation must be provided (e.g., medical certificate, police report, etc.)
- Refunds are processed via bank transfer within 8 days after claim approval
The organizer does not issue refunds under any circumstances.
Refunds are only possible if BeTicketing Insurance was purchased at registration.
You will receive the link and QR code for submitting a claim from BeTicketing when purchasing the insurance.

FINAL DEADLINE: 15 October 2026
After this date, no changes of any kind will be possible, regardless of the reason.
An injury prevents me from participating. Can I transfer my entry to the following year?
If you are unable to participate due to an injury, you may transfer your registration to another runner.
If you purchased BeTicketing insurance during the registration process, you can request a refund directly from the insurance provider.
Transferring your entry to the following year is not possible.
I want to change my selected distance. Is this possible?
All changes can be made directly in your registration profile.
If you upgrade to a longer course, you must pay the price difference. If you switch to a shorter course, the difference is non-refundable. Changing distances is free of charge until 14 September 2026. From 15 September to 15 October, a fee of 10 EUR applies.
After 15 October, no further changes are possible.
If any distance reaches its participant limit earlier, changes will close prior to this date.
I want to transfer my registration to another runner. Is this possible?
Yes. To transfer your registration to another participant, log in to your user account (my dashboard – TRANSFER YOUR BIB TO A FRIEND) and complete the transfer.
For each transfer made between 23 September and 15 October, an administrative fee of €15 applies. Transfers are available until 15 October 2026. After this date, transfers and changes are no longer possible.
What are the registration deadlines for OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026?
Registrations for OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026 close on 15 October 2026 at 23:59 for all distances.

When and where can I pick up my race bib?
Bib pick-up for OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026 will take place at the restaurant of the San Simon Hotel in Izola on Friday, 6 November 2026, and Saturday, 8 November 2026, according to the following schedule:

Can someone else pick up my race bib?
No, each participant must collect their race bib in person, as the following is required at collection:
- Presentation of a valid photo ID
- Signing the Liability Waiver
- Mandatory equipment check
I cannot participate in the race. Will I still receive the starter gift bag?
If you decide not to participate in OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026, the organizers are not obliged to provide you with the starter gift bag or any other event souvenirs, such as the event T-shirt, if you do not attend the event.
However, you may still pick up your starter package in person during the bib pickup on 06 and 08 November 2026 at the San Simon Hotel restaurant. In this case, you will not receive a bib number—only the starter package.
After the event, the organizers will not be responsible for sending starter bags or souvenirs that were not collected in person.
I won an award (overall or age category). Do I need to wait for the award ceremony?
Yes. All runners who place on the podium — overall or in their age category — must wait for the official award ceremony and collect their award in person.
Awards are not handed to third parties and are not shipped by mail.
Exception: If a runner is injured and receiving urgent medical care, an authorized person may collect the award upon presenting proper documentation.
Another exception applies if the runner has not yet finished the race at the time of the award ceremony.
Where can I find the exact locations of the aid stations?
The exact locations of the aid stations for OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026 will be published on our website. Simply visit the Runners section to find details for each distance. The aid station locations are listed in the AID STATIONS submenu, where you can view information for your selected route.
The precise locations of checkpoints and aid stations will also be available in the OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026 Runner’s Guide, which will be published 15–20 days before the event.
Support
Can I assist and support a runner during the race?
Assisting runners is only allowed at official aid stations. All other forms of support are strictly prohibited.
During the event, we ensure fairness among participants and respect for the rules. Assisting outside the official aid stations not designated by the organizer is not allowed, as it would provide an unfair advantage. Violating this rule may result in penalties for the runner, including additional time added to the overall result or even disqualification.
At which stations is runner support allowed?
Support is allowed only at designated stations on the course. These locations are published on our website and will also be indicated in the official Runner’s Guide.
Assistance is permitted only at approved stations. Any violations may result in penalties of 30 or 60 minutes, or even disqualification of the participant.
Will there be a Runner’s Guide for OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026?
The Runner’s Guide for OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026 will be published on our website 15–20 days before the event. It will contain all the necessary information about the courses, aid stations, checkpoints, and other important details to ensure a successful race.
Are the aid stations accessible by car?
Most aid stations at OBALA ULTRA TRAIL 2026 are accessible by car. However, reaching some stations will require a walk of 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the location. Please be prepared to hike to the aid stations, as vehicles will not have access to certain areas.
Distances
Where can I download the GPX files for the courses?
GPX files for all OBALA ULTRA TRAIL distances are available on our website in the Runners section. The files will be published shortly before the event, and no later than one month prior to the race.
Please note that the courses may still be subject to changes, so we recommend checking our website regularly for updates.
Is the course marked?
Yes, the courses at OBALA ULTRA TRAIL are clearly and well marked with various signaling elements, such as flags, signs, reusable tape, and other visible markers. The route will always be easy to follow, but we recommend staying attentive to the markings throughout the race.
What are the time limits?
The time limits for all distances at OBALA ULTRA TRAIL are published on our website in the Runners section. There you will find detailed information about how much time is available to complete each course.
What time do the races start?
- 11 km Izola San Simon – 07.11.2026 at 12:00
- 17 km Korte – 07.11.2026 at 11:30
- 35 km Izola San Simon – 07.11.2026 at 11:00
- 64 km Hrastovlje – 07.11.2026 at 09:00
- 108 km Dekani – 07.11.2026 at 06:00
Mandatory equipment
Is the mandatory equipment really necessary?
Yes, mandatory equipment is essential for your safety and must be carried throughout the race. All items must be stored in your running vest or backpack. A mandatory equipment check will be conducted before the race when collecting your bib.
The organizer reserves the right to inspect mandatory equipment before the start or at any point along the course. If any item is missing or the runner refuses to show the equipment, a penalty will be applied.
For each missing item, a time penalty of 30 minutes to 1 hour will be imposed.
Where can I find the list of mandatory equipment?
The list of mandatory equipment will be published on our website in the Runners section, where you can find details for each distance in the MANDATORY EQUIPMENT subsection.
Please note that plastic cups will not be used at aid stations, so it is mandatory to bring your own reusable cup or bottle.
What happens if I don’t have the mandatory equipment?
If you do not bring the full mandatory equipment to the race, you may put yourself at serious risk, as this equipment ensures your safety in adverse conditions, such as extreme cold, strong winds, or if you get injured and require assistance. The items listed in the mandatory equipment list will be checked when collecting your bib. Random checks may also be conducted during the race to ensure that every runner has the required equipment. If you do not have all mandatory equipment at bib collection, you will not receive your race bib.
Additionally, mandatory equipment may be checked at aid stations during the race. If any item is missing, a time penalty of 30 minutes will be applied. Repeated violations may result in disqualification from the race.

Can you recommend any accommodation or campsite?

Are parking spaces available in Izola?
There are plenty of parking spaces available in Izola. For the OBALA ULTRA TRAIL event, we have arranged 490 free parking spaces for participants near the bib collection points and other designated areas. Once the free parking spaces are full, local paid parking options are available. Exact locations and details will be published in the OBALA ULTRA TRAIL Runner’s Guide, which will be available a few weeks before the event.

Are running poles allowed during the race?
Running poles are allowed on all courses and are highly recommended, especially on more challenging sections. If you choose to use them, you must carry them with you throughout the entire race.
Do I receive ITRA points for participating in OBALA ULTRA TRAIL?
Here is the list of ITRA points you can earn for each distance at OBALA ULTRA TRAIL:
- 35 km – 2 ITRA points
- 64 km – 3 ITRA points
- 108 km – 4 ITRA points
How can I get to the start of the 17 km, 64 km, and 108 km races?
For the starts that are not in Izola (17 km, 64 km, and 108 km), bus transportation is organized and included in the entry fee for all runners. All information can be found on the website under the selection of your chosen course.
What kind of weather can I expect?
OBALA ULTRA TRAIL usually takes place in beautiful autumn weather. Temperatures can range between 3 °C and 20 °C, with the possibility of strong winds on exposed ridges. Runners are recommended to bring:
- Waterproof jacket (mandatory equipment)
- Spare thermal shirt
- Gloves and a hat in case of cold wind
- Sun protection (sunscreen + sunglasses)
In the event of extreme weather, the organizer reserves the right to modify the course or schedule.
Can I run with an animal?
Unfortunately, participation with a dog or any other animal is not allowed in the official OBALA ULTRA TRAIL races.
Where can I get information about lost items?
The Lost & Found is located at the information point in the finish area. Items are kept for 14 days after the event.
Is there a drop bag option for the 108 km and 64 km courses?
Yes, for the 108 km course, you can have 2 drop bags: one at the start and two at the Kubed transition station. These must be dropped off by Friday at 21:00 at the bib collection location. For the 64 km course, 1 drop bag is available at the race start.
What happens if I withdraw during the race?
A runner is required to:
- Immediately notify the organizer (contact details are on the bib or at the aid station leader)
- Proceed to the nearest aid station or checkpoint
- Wait for organized transport to the finish, or if using personal transport, inform the organizer that the race is finished and transportation is arranged
Are photos available after the race?
Yes, all race photos will be published on our OBALA ULTRA TRAIL Facebook page after the event.
How to Get to Izola?
By plane
Planning your trip to the most scenic trail – Obala Ultra Trail?
Getting to Izola is easy, whether you’re traveling by plane, train, car, or camper. Here’s everything you need to know for a quick and hassle-free arrival.
The three nearest airports:
- Trieste Airport – 75 km, approx. 1 hour drive
- Ljubljana Airport – 130 km, approx. 1 hour drive
- Venice Marco Polo Airport – 180 km, approx. 1 hour 30 minutes drive
All airports offer car rental services, or you can continue by shuttle, bus, or train. The simplest and most flexible option is to rent a car directly at the airport.
By car or camper
Izola is easily accessible from Western Europe via major highways:
- From Italy: A4 motorway (Trieste – Venice), then follow signs to Koper and Izola.
- From Austria/Germany: Via Villach – Karawanken Tunnel – Ljubljana – Koper – Izola.
- From Croatia: Via Dragonja or Sečovlje border crossings, then follow signs to Koper – Izola.
Ample parking is available near the event, and camper parking is just 50 meters from the Expo area in Izola.
By train
The nearest major train station is Koper, with frequent buses to Izola (approx. 15 minutes). International trains arrive from Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia.
