GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS – OBALA ULTRA TRAIL

General

  • All participants run at their own risk.
  • By submitting the registration and paying the entry fee, the runner confirms that they are familiar with the event rules and accept all regulations set by the organizer.
  • For minors, parents or legal guardians are fully responsible; a signed consent form is mandatory.
  • A signed liability waiver is required when collecting the race bib.
  • The event takes place in all weather conditions unless participant safety is at risk. In such cases, the organizer reserves the right to:
    • modify the course,
    • postpone the start,
    • shorten the race,
    • cancel the event without reimbursement.

Age Restrictions

  • 108 km, 64 km, 35 km: participants must be 18+.
  • 17 km: permitted for ages 15–18 with written parental/guardian consent.
  • 11 km: not permitted for children under 12; ages 12–15 require written parental consent and must be accompanied by one parent during the race.

Course & Markings

  • All routes are marked with flags, tape, or ground markings.
  • Marshals will be present at key intersections.
  • GPS tracks do not replace course markings—they serve only as an orientation aid.
  • Runners must follow the marked course. Shortcuts or leaving the official route will result in penalties.

Withdrawal from the Race

  • Runners may withdraw only at a checkpoint or aid station.
  • The organizer must be notified immediately (contact details are printed on the bib).
  • Withdrawal outside a checkpoint is permitted only in emergencies.

Prohibited Actions and Penalties

 

    • Prohibited:
      • Any external assistance outside aid stations.
      • Running in pairs or groups with intentional pacing.
      • Running under another person’s name (immediate disqualification).
      • Littering (immediate disqualification).
      • Verbal or physical assault on volunteers or other participants (immediate disqualification).
      • Support by vehicles, bicycles, or unregistered runners (immediate disqualification).

       

 

    • Penalties:
        • Leaving the course or arriving from the wrong direction: +1 hour or DSQ.

       

        • Missing mandatory equipment: DSQ.

       

        • Running without a bib number results in a ban from participation for an indefinite period, at the organizer’s discretion. Disqualification, removal from the event, and notification of the relevant authorities may follow…

       

       

 

Doping

  • Doping is strictly prohibited.
  • The organizer reserves the right to conduct random tests in accordance with NADO regulations.
  • Refusal to test = immediate disqualification.

Safety and Assistance

  • A medical team and ambulance will be present at the event.
  • Medical personnel may remove any participant from the course if they deem safety compromised.
  • In case of an accident, runners must:
    • assist fellow runners (“trail solidarity”),
    • contact the organizer,
    • stay in place if injured and unable to continue.

Failure to provide assistance may result in penalties or disqualification.

Event Cancellation / Force Majeure

  • Up to 60 days before the event: 70% refund + 10% discount for 2027 or transfer.
  • Up to 30 days before the event: 60% refund + 10% discount or transfer.
  • Less than 30 days: no refund, only transfer to 2027 possible.
  • In extreme conditions, the organizer may modify the course or shorten the race without refund.

Material Pickup

  • If the participant does not start the race, the organizer is not obliged to store or ship race packages, shirts, or other items.
  • Collection is only possible in person during event hours, or via an authorized representative (race package only, bib cannot be collected).

Protests

  • Protests must be submitted in writing no later than 30 minutes after the participant finishes.
  • Deposit: 50 EUR (refundable if the protest is justified).
  • All protests are reviewed by the organizational committee (race director, technical director, checkpoint supervisors). Decisions are final.

Protests related to the course must include:

  • a written statement,
  • photographic/video evidence,
  • statements of three witnesses.

Categories

Women and men:

  1. up to 34 years
  2. 35–49 years
  3. 50–59 years
  4. 60+ years

Data Protection and Use of Media

  • By participating, runners allow the organizer to use photos and videos for promotional purposes without compensation.
  • All copyright is fully transferred to the organizer.

Amendments to the Regulations

The organizer reserves the right to amend the rules. Participants will be informed in advance of any changes.

 

Liability

By participating, the runner confirms that they:

  • are physically prepared,
  • understand all risks associated with trail running,
  • waive any claims against the organizer in case of injury, accident, theft, or damage.

 

Right to Refuse Registration or Exclude a Participant

The Organizer reserves the right, based on justified grounds, to refuse a registration or exclude an individual from the event if it is determined that their behavior (before or during the event, publicly or privately) seriously harms or could harm the reputation of the event, the Organizer, partners, sponsors, or other participants.

Such behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  • the intentional dissemination of false, misleading, or defamatory information about the event or the Organizer,

  • public discrediting of the event or the Organizer, or calls for boycott without substantiated facts,

  • actions that are contrary to the principles of fair play, respectful communication, sportsmanship, or applicable laws and regulations.

Any decision to refuse or exclude a participant shall be based on the principle of proportionality and the protection of the legitimate interests of the event.
In the event of refusal or exclusion prior to the start of the event, the participant is entitled to a refund of the registration fee, except in cases of serious violations of the event rules or applicable legislation.

Such a decision shall not be considered discriminatory under applicable law, but serves solely to protect the integrity, safety, and reputation of the event.
